Gary Fuller currently
is the Program manager and culinary arts
instructor at West Sound Technical Skills
Center. He has held this position since
1987. The Culinary Arts Program is an
American Culinary Federation Accredited
Program. p class="recipetext">Gary’s background
includes extensive work in the Seattle areas
fine dining establishments and ownership of
two Restaurants in the Port Orchard, WA
area. While learning his trade in Seattle he
worked at Horatio’s, Rossilini’s 4-10, Ray’s
Boat House, and Boondocks, Sundeckers and
Greenthumbs. He was the owner/chef of The
Clambake Restaurant, a popular Seafood
Restaurant, and The Original Steak & Oyster
Restaurant at Gold Mountain Golf Course.
Gary has extensive consultation and
management experience in the Restaurant
industry.
His education was with
the community college system where he
studied Culinary Arts at Seattle Central
Community College and Pastries, Baking and
Restaurant Management at South Seattle
Community College. While earning a
Washington State Career and Technical
Teaching Certificate, Gary has specialized
in Special Education, specific learning
style classes and has been trained in
“Tribes” a way to develop a “Community of
Learning” for the classroom. Through his
work as a teacher he has received the
Teacher of the year award at West Sound
Technical Skills Center and Advisor of the
Year for the Olympic Region SkillsUSA, a
national student leadership program. Gary is
a Certified Culinary Educator & Certified
Executive Chef with the American Culinary
Federation.
Gary serves on several
boards and is active in community affairs.
He is a board member of the Washington State
Board of Directors for SkillsUSA, American
Culinary Federation National Secondary
Accreditation Committee and Washington State
Chefs Association. He also is a member of
the Board of Directors and past president of
West Sound Treatment Center, a local United
Way sponsored program.
Some of Gary’s
greatest passions are teaching culinary arts
and student leadership. He is a designer and
artist. He designs metal sculptures and
other hardscapes and enjoys landscaping. His
paintings are mostly abstract in design and
paints mostly with acrylics and some mixed
media. However, Gary’s main passion in life
is his marriage to his wife Elaine. They
have been married since 1976.
